Giant panda behaviour recognition using images

چکیده
Monitoring giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) behaviour is critical for their conservation and understanding health conditions. Currently, captive usually monitored by caregivers. In previous studies, researchers observed behaviours short time spans over a period. However, both caregivers cannot monitor them 24-h using traditional methods of observation. other words, animal data are difficult to collect long periods prone errors when recorded manually. Some have used wearable devices such as accelerometer ear tags collar-mounted units with global position system (GPS) receiver contactless depth cameras video animals primates American white pelicans. the panda, an icon endangered species conservation, almost completely neglected in these studies. To effectively, fully automated recognition method based on Faster R–CNN two modified ResNet was created. The network able detect bodies faces images. One trained classify into five classes, walking, sitting, resting, climbing, eating recognise whether panda’s eyes mouth were opened or closed. Experiments conducted 10,804 images collected from 218 pandas various environments illumination experimental results very encouraging achieved overall accuracy 90% 84% subtle facial motions. proposed provides effective way captivity.

Factors affecting genotyping success in giant panda fecal samples
Fecal samples play an important role in giant panda conservation studies. Optimal preservation conditions and choice of microsatellites for giant panda fecal samples have not been established. In this study, we evaluated the effect of four factors (namely, storage type (ethanol (EtOH), EtOH -20 °C, 2-step storage medium, DMSO/EDTA/Tris/salt buffer (DETs) and frozen at -20 °C), storage time (one...
متن کاملRetinal Astrocytic Hamartomas: Unexpected Findings in a Giant Panda
We report the unexpected findings of bilateral retinal astrocytic hamartomas in a giant panda. The eyes of Hsing-Hsing, a giant panda that had renal failure, chronic hypertension, degenerative joint disease, and progressive ulcerative keratitis, were examined grossly and histologically. Most of the findings were related to Hsing-Hsing’s debilitated condition or to normal anatomic variations bet...
متن کاملFull Genome Sequence of Giant Panda Rotavirus Strain CH-1
We report here the complete genomic sequence of the giant panda rotavirus strain CH-1. This work is the first to document the complete genomic sequence (segments 1 to 11) of the CH-1 strain, which offers an effective platform for providing authentic research experiences to novice scientists.
متن کاملEvidence of cellulose metabolism by the giant panda gut microbiome.
The giant panda genome codes for all necessary enzymes associated with a carnivorous digestive system but lacks genes for enzymes needed to digest cellulose, the principal component of their bamboo diet. It has been posited that this iconic species must therefore possess microbial symbionts capable of metabolizing cellulose, but these symbionts have remained undetected. Here we examined 5,522 p...
متن کاملThe first skull of the earliest giant panda.
Fossils of the giant panda Ailuropoda (Order Carnivora, Family Ursidae) are largely isolated teeth, mandibles, and a few rare skulls, known from the late Pliocene to late Pleistocene in China and Southeast Asia. Much of this material represents a Pleistocene chronospecies, Ailuropoda baconi, an animal larger than the living giant panda, Ailuropoda melanoleuca. The earliest certain record of Ail...
